Cu(s)p(id) #poems Cusp; on the edge . This is my favorite place to sit. Favorite not by choice, but I do find myself here often. I gaze down, on the cusp of my utopia. The green is so welcoming. Oh, to lie by that river , and let the water dance through my fingers. I want those sun rays to blanket me cozily on Sundays. Peace is what it looks like, this valley below. I have it up here too, but superficial. i see the peace, but i only feel , the discomforting hum of anxiety underneath. a pot of rice, please remove the lid before the starchy liquid boils over. be still be still be still … there’s still time . i’ll be ready soon Cuspid Anticipation , aggression, assertion Oh, but To take a bite . ! the grains spill from my lips im insatiable. stomach yowling , tearing up my insides . if only someone would stop me ! it says . Otherwise i will roar , i will roar, ! Feed me !!!!! consume damn you, gnash without apprehension, you beast . i skin the flesh of my meal back with my cuspids . i burn holes into the ceramic of my Bowl . I am violent when i eat , but only when i eat . i don’t fear me otherwise . Cupid , anticipation , flutters, restless Cupid calls . filling with air, my lungs kiss my chest, whisper “go” . i smile ,,, though a thousand seconds feels like a thousand years , my patience will not peter out . my heart is hot within me , singing its yearning, a psalm of roiling passion wrapped in a quietly budding romance . wait for me, i reassure him . you are beating so quickly, and for why ? you will exhaust yourself . i won’t forget you, forget this . may i not enjoy this feeling without haste ! , without the racing of restless blood chasing itself through my body , trying to provoke my feet into walking, my fingers into seducing, my lips into promising… Oh, let me wait! Let me breathe! Let me be. For when Cupid calls, i will surely answer thee.
